I mentioned in one of the previous posts about the Hult Prize Foundation – the biggest award for social-entrepreneurial campuses.
There is another flagship event for social enterprises worldwide, not necessarily campuses, to challenge themselves and win $1,000,000 – the Global Action Challenge. That’s just the same prize as Hult’s!
On Nov 17 & 18, the Global Action Summit held a meeting in Nashville, TN to gather world leaders for discussion. Different from the Hult Prize which changes its challenge every year, the sole objective of the GAP (Global Action Platform) is to find innovation for Food, Health, and Prosperity.
The meeting attracted CEOs from:
- CNN
- Bank of America
- Ingram Industries
- Wells Fargo Bank
- Oak Ridge National Laboratory
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- HCA
- SNV
- RegionalCare
- Many other C-Level and emerging leaders.
Let’s meet one finalist from this year’s challenge – Pu Wang from Vibronix about heart attacks treatment using photoacoustic imaging:
Looking back, the 2013 challenge of GAP picked up many transformative and scalable solutions for the matter of Food and Health, such as:
- treating Parkinsons disease
- improving heat adaptation in cattle
- promoting natural food
- preventing Lyme disease
This is a wrapping-up video that go through all finalists in the challenge last year. Have a watch and spare a thought about what they have contributed!
Keep yourself posted at this big event and hear what Social Enterprises say about the world issue of Food & Health posted by @GapAction!
